This may be a brand new product from St. Giles Distillery but it’s been years in the making!
Our new Honeyed Rum is the coming together of two very different experiences, beginning many years ago.
Back in the 1980’s founder of St. Giles Distillery, Simon Melton, was lucky enough to spend 6 months working in the Central American country of Belize. With its fabulous Caribbean coastline, he was in no hurry to return to the UK after completing his contract, so went on to spend the best part of the following year exploring the stunning Caribbean Islands.
Of course, no tour of the Caribbean would be complete without trying plenty of one of its most popular exports – rum! Simon happily threw himself into this ‘rum research’ with his usual energy and enthusiasm.
Not quite so long ago and in the less glamorous, but equally beautiful Norfolk countryside, St. Giles’ Head Distiller Pete Margree was developing an interest in beekeeping. Under the expert tutelage of ‘Anne the Bee Lady’ Pete gradually learnt the complex art of beekeeping, He has now been successfully keeping bees on his allotment for the last 25 years.
So when discussions began about producing a rum, Pete was keen to create a honeyed rum, utilising this most precious and luxurious of ingredients, and so the process began. After numerous trials and tastings (everyone’s favourite part of the job!) St. Giles Honeyed Rum was launched.
St. Giles Honeyed Rum is the culmination of years of experiences and endeavours. With its soft caramel tones and luxurious honey sweetness it is perfect to enjoy with friends, while you reminisce about the past and make plans for the future. The perfect ‘Reward for Adventure’!
